When our community rallied together to demand traffic signals, I was overwhelmed by the shared vision and determination of our neighborhoods. Our collective voice achieved a major victory: ending a decade-long delay on a critical regional infrastructure project. Driven by this success and the overwhelming encouragement from local families, I realized it was time to step up.

I have officially registered as a candidate for Ward 2 Councillor to dedicate my technical expertise, professional experience, and personal effort back to the community my family calls home. I am running to provide a clear, thoughtful alternative for residents seeking data-driven decision-making, strategic planning, and fiscal accountability. We deserve a municipality that serves as the absolute best place to live, work, thrive, and raise a family.

As a proud East Gwillimbury resident, neighbor, husband, and father of four young children, I understand the everyday challenges our households face during this period of rapid growth. Effective leadership requires more than good intentions—it demands the technical know-how to deliver real, sustainable solutions across short-, mid-, and long-term horizons. An Engineer’s Precision

With a Civil Engineering degree, a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering, and as a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, I bring over 15 years of comprehensive experience in municipal engineering and public civil infrastructure project management. My background spans every phase of the project lifecycle—from planning, design, and procurement to construction, operations, and maintenance across both municipal and provincial levels. From serving as a Municipal Development Project Manager for the City of Markham to supporting major subway extension and transportation projects at Metrolinx as a traffic and transportation project manager, I have built a career delivering complex, high-visibility public infrastructure.

Having served inside public administration, I understand how municipal operations function, how to optimize budgeting and prioritization, how to protect our town's roots and heritage while managing new development proposals, and why proactive asset management is vital to protecting taxpayer investments and public interests.

I apply technical discipline, strategic project management, interactive communication to achieve consensus, and practical problem-solving to ensure every tax dollar is spent wisely, transparently, and with non-negotiable due diligence. As an engineer, my primary duty is clear: protecting the public welfare and upholding public trust are paramount.

I possess deep working knowledge of provincial and municipal statutes, including the Municipal Act, Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and the Construction Act, along with their relevant regulations and governing bodies. I am an expert in municipal standards, policies, and by-laws, and proficient in procurement models such as P3, Progressive Design-Build, and Alliance. This technical background brings exceptional value to Town Council for overseeing day-to-day municipal services, establishing sound policy, and setting appropriate direction to enhance resident satisfaction and protect the public interest.

A Neighbor’s Passion

Leadership means rolling up your sleeves and taking action. When safety concerns at Leslie Street and Doane Road reached an "enough is enough" breaking point, I organized a community petition that gathered over 350 signatures. Through persistent, evidence-based advocacy and direct engagement with York Region’s Public Works, we successfully secured written commitments for traffic signals by 2027 and expedited funding for detailed engineering design.

I am committed to remaining accessible, listening to my neighbors, and making data-backed decisions that directly enhance our quality of life and meet your expectations of a local councillor. As a Canadian-Iranian raising four children here, I take immense pride in the rich cultural diversity and heritage of East Gwillimbury. I will put our community first and do the hard work required to secure a prosperous legacy for the next generation.
